Following the ministry of Jesus, we are called to promote physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being within Sacred Heart Parish and the community we serve.
The mission of the Parish Health Ministry initiative is to promote wholeness of body, mind and spirit through the integration of faith and health. It is rooted in the vision of Christ as Healer and modeled after the compassionate ministry of Jesus. Together with our parish priest, parish nurse and members of the health ministry team, we seek to transform the faith community into a place of health and healing. Using a holistic approach to health, we work to enrich relationships with God, self and others.
The parish nurse is a registered nurse who, in response to God's calling, applies nursing knowledge and healing gifts within a faith community. The parish nurse works in collaboration with the parish priest, parish health ministry team and members of various parish committees. The parish nurse typically has several years of nursing experience and has completed a parish nursing education program
Some of the roles of the parish nurse may include: health education, personal health counselling, health advocate, facilitator of volunteers, development of support groups and liaison with parish and community resources.
